Travelling tutors:
your questions, answered.
Straightforward guidance on planning tuition, arranging the stay and what happens when you contact us.
Planning the learning
What is a travelling tutor?
A travelling tutor accompanies a family or joins them overseas, teaching at agreed times. Tuition can maintain schoolwork, develop subjects or prepare for examinations. We shape the educational brief and coordinate the tutor search.
Can we arrange a travelling tutor for a one- or two-week holiday?
Yes. You can request a tutor for one week, a fortnight or part of a holiday. Share the destination, dates, subjects and preferred hours so we can explore availability.
Which countries can a tutor travel to?
We assess destinations individually. Share the countries, dates and onward stops. Tutor availability, travel and relevant entry or work permissions must be confirmed before a placement is agreed.
Can a tutor accompany us to more than one destination?
Yes. Include each destination and travel day in the brief. We consider teaching time, accommodation, transport and rest. Later route changes need agreement before new travel is booked.
Can a travelling tutor follow our child’s school curriculum?
Yes. Share the year group, subjects, examination boards and schoolwork to help align the programme. Any school liaison or sharing of records is agreed with you separately.
Can a travelling tutor help with GCSE, A-level or IB revision?
Yes. Share the qualification, subjects, examination boards, dates and priorities. We explore relevant subject expertise and plan revision, practice and feedback around the trip.
How many hours a day should a travelling tutor teach?
Hours are agreed around age, concentration, goals and family plans. Morning lessons with breaks may suit revision; a broader programme needs a different rhythm. Teaching, preparation and time off are defined before the stay.
Can one travelling tutor teach siblings?
Possibly, if their subjects, stages and schedules are compatible. Separate sessions or shared teaching may work; some briefs need more than one specialist. Share each child’s broad requirements without names initially.
The practical details
Does a travelling tutor need separate accommodation?
Yes. A tutor needs suitable private accommodation, meals, transport and a quiet study space. This may be within your property or nearby. Arrangements and associated costs are agreed before the stay.
Is a travelling tutor also a nanny or holiday companion?
The tutor’s primary role is education. Childcare, driving and supervision outside lessons are included only if expressly agreed. Tell us about any additional responsibilities so roles, hours and suitability can be clarified.
Can a tutor help during an international relocation?
Yes. Tuition can maintain a routine between schools and prepare a student for a new curriculum. Share the move dates, current studies and next school’s start date so we can plan the transition.
How much does a travelling tutor cost?
Weekly tuition starts from £1,500 per week. Teaching hours, subjects, expertise and destination shape the quotation, including any travel or accommodation charges. Full-time salaried tutor roles range from £45,000–£180,000 per year; other appointment costs are confirmed separately.
How far in advance should we enquire?
Enquire when likely dates and destinations are known. More notice gives greater scope to find the right expertise and resolve travel arrangements. For short-notice requests, share the deadline and any flexibility.
Your enquiry & tutor supply
Who handles my enquiry, and who supplies the tutor?
Traveling Tutors, owned by Clear Group Limited, receives and manages your enquiry. We discuss your requirements and coordinate the search. The tutor is sourced from our extensive tutor and partner network.
How is a suitable travelling tutor identified?
We consider subjects, curriculum, learning style, interests and practical arrangements. We then discuss suitable tutor experience and personal fit with you, including an introductory conversation where helpful.
What tutor checks and safeguarding arrangements should be confirmed?
We seek confirmation of identity, references, relevant qualifications, applicable background checks and safeguarding arrangements from the relevant tutor or partner. Before commitment, we explain what is confirmed and who to contact with concerns.
Will my details be shared with a tutor-supply partner?
Only with your separate permission. Clear Group Limited manages the enquiry. Before sharing personal details, we name the proposed tutor or partner and explain what is needed and why.
People, programmes & ongoing support
Can a family office or personal assistant arrange tuition?
Yes. An authorised family office, personal assistant or adviser can coordinate the enquiry. Use your own contact details, outline the educational brief and identify the decision-maker. Permission to arrange tuition is separate from permission to share personal information.
Can we speak to a tutor before deciding?
Yes. An introductory conversation can be arranged, subject to availability, to discuss teaching style, interests and expectations. Relevant experience, checks and the placement terms are also confirmed before commitment.
Who supports us once tuition has started?
Traveling Tutors remains your coordination contact. Before the stay, we agree the tutor’s responsibilities, review arrangements, contact availability and scope of ongoing support. You will know who to contact about teaching, practical matters or concerns.
What happens if the tutor is unavailable or the arrangement is not working?
Contact us promptly. We review the concern and explore adjustments, rearranged sessions or an alternative tutor. Availability and the agreed terms determine replacement, cancellation and fees; immediate cover is not guaranteed.
How will progress be reviewed?
Reviews consider work completed, understanding, independent-study habits and the next priorities. Before tuition starts, agree who provides updates, how often and whether a written summary is included.
What will the quotation include?
The quotation sets out teaching hours, programme scope, the parties involved and all applicable charges. It explains how consultancy, travel, accommodation, meals and resources are handled, plus payment and cancellation terms. Full-time salary figures are shown separately from other appointment costs.
Can you consider tutors for a child with dyslexia or other learning needs?
Yes. We discuss the educational brief and explore relevant tutor experience. Specialist training and suitability are confirmed individually. Please keep the initial enquiry broad; sensitive reports can be considered later through an agreed route.
Can the programme focus on confidence as well as academic work?
Yes. Confidence, motivation and independent-study habits can sit alongside subject goals. We discuss practical objectives and a teaching approach suited to your child, then agree how progress will be reviewed.
Who leads the educational approach?
Dominic brings over ten years’ experience guiding families and building bespoke education programmes, with a background in senior independent-school and education leadership roles. His approach combines academic planning, tutor selection and programme oversight. Clear Group Ltd is the company contact.
Can we enquire about a tutor joining us aboard a yacht?
Yes. Share the broad route, dates, educational stages and accommodation available. We explore the brief through our tutor and partner network, assessing the tutor’s experience and the vessel’s practical requirements before confirming a placement.
How can travel enrich learning without losing curriculum focus?
Keep curriculum priorities clear and use relevant experiences to explore them. A museum can inspire writing; a coastline can support geography. Defined lesson time protects essential schoolwork while the destination adds context.
How much does a full-time salaried tutor cost?
Full-time salaried tutor roles range from £45,000–£180,000 per year, depending on experience, responsibilities and location. This is the tutor’s annual salary. The proposal confirms any additional appointment, programme-management, travel or accommodation costs.
An enquiry starts a conversation. Availability, responsibilities and costs are confirmed in a written proposal before you commit.
